Blood shortage a different kind of drought for area
Donated blood supplies have dropped to critically low levels in the past few weeks, and area residents are being asked to give the gift of life when they have the opportunity.
LifeShare Blood Center in Lake Charles sent out a call to area residents at the end of last week, noting that blood needs typically spike during the summer months, but the recent heat wave and drought have brought an “exceptionally steep decline in blood donations,” according to LifeShare Recruiting and Donations Manager Kristi Morris.
