Jury approves new redistricting plan
The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury approved new boundaries for its 13 individual districts on Wednesday in a move that will also increase the number of voting precincts parishwide.
The plan is part of the redistricting effort demanded every 10 years after the release of the new U.S. Census data. The plan will now go to the state and to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for final approval before jury seats go up for election in the Oct. 22 primary.
