LAKE ARTHUR –  Funeral services for Howard Warren Seagraves, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Lake Arthur Christian Campground in Lake Arthur, with Rev. LaMarylis Cotten officiating.

Mr. Seagraves will be laid to rest with full military rites in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and will resume from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will be held at Lake Arthur Christian Campground from 12:30 p.m. until time of services on Thursday.

Mr. Seagraves was called to his Heavenly Father on June 24, 2012, while in the comfort of his home at the campground, surrounded by his beloved family.

Howard was born in Jennings to the late Sidney Joseph Seagraves and the late Gracie Patterson Seagraves on Oct. 5, 1931. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Howard was an engineer (NRECA) for the Jeff Davis Co-op. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post No. 403 in Lake Arthur and a member of the VFW Post No. 3244, where he was a quartermaster and chaplain. Howard was treasurer of Lake Arthur Christian Campground for 28 years. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years, Ethel Broussard Seagraves of Lake Arthur; his two sons, Kevin (Janet) Seagraves and Kip Seagraves, both of Jennings; two stepsons, Kelly Broussard of Gueydan and Stephen Condley of Lake Charles; his two daughters, Rene’ (Anthony) Trauth of Jennings and Kara (Darrel) Whitehouse of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; four stepdaughters, Christina (James) Fields of Iota, Katrina (Jimmy) Fuselier of Lake Arthur, Jeni Broussard of Jennings and Matilda LaCombe of Iota; his brother, Melvin Ray (Mary) Seagraves of Fairfield, Texas; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Gracie Seagraves; and one great-grandchild.

Carrying Howard to his eternal resting place in St. Anthony Cemetery will be Anthony Trauth, Kevin Seagraves, Ahmad Willis, Kelly Broussard, Sidney Trauth and Stephen Condley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kip Seagraves, Joseph Seagraves, James Fields and Darrel Whitehouse.
