Jennings Pony team claims tournament title
The Jennings Pony All Stars Team won the title of Champions in the Rayne Recreation Dept. Tune Up Tournament. There were seven teams in the Pony Division, including Iowa, Rayne, Crowley, Southern Select, Eunice, St. Mary and Jennings. Each team played two games total on Friday or Saturday to seed the teams for the bracket play on Sunday. Jennings was seeded as the no. 1 team going into Sunday by defeating Rayne and Eunice and allowing only two runs to Rayne and 0 runs to Eunice.
On Friday, Jennings defeated Rayne with a score of 8-2. Both teams were scoreless in the first inning. In the second inning, Tyler Trahan picked up two RBIs when he scored Ethan Smith and Daniel Guillory. Then Christian Millet had a solid hit that scored Mark Hollier. Rayne remained scoreless. Jennings then scored one more run when Caleb Chaisson scored Wesley Simien in the third inning while Rayne stilled remained scoreless. In the top of the fourth inning, Mark Hollier connected with a big hit that scored Daniel Guillory and Tyler Trahan with Hollier reaching second base. With Hollier and Millet on base, Rayne had an overthrow to third base that allowed Hollier and Millet to score. Rayne then had their at bat and scored two runs. Daniel Guillory pitched the first three innings. Ethan Smith came in to pitch in the fourth inning with Caleb Chaisson relieving Smith striking out the next three batters and ending the game resulting in a final score of Jennings 8, Rayne 2.
