Rice system could benefit local seniors

CROWLEY – A system to enable rice farmers to donate part of their crop is being developed with area rice mills, the Louisiana Rice Growers Association Board of Directors learned recently (June 19).

Randy Jemison of the USA Rice Federation told the board that the Second Harvest Food Bank, which serves the New Orleans and Acadiana areas, has proposed the donation system.
