While football season is still a couple of months away for the average fan, preparations by Jeff Davis Parish teams are fervently ongoing. Coaches recently completed a short session in the spring with their teams before settling into the summer workout pattern.
Coaches were pleased with the way things went in the spring practices. “We had an excellent spring that was very productive,” commented Jennings head coach Rusty Phelps. “Our coaches did a good job of identifying the major area of losses through graduation and spending time putting the right personnel in place at replacements. We put in kids that we thought had a chance to be productive at those positions and most of them were good fits. We lost two linebackers, two running backs and a tight end. We really had a good plan for filling in those positions. We had a good eight days of spring practice.”
