Several advocates for the Stop the HIT Coalition visited Jennings Tuesday to raise awareness about a federal health insurance tax that could mean big costs for small businesses.

Stop the HIT, or Health Insurance Tax, is the name of the coalition that is currently trying to repeal a portion of the federal health care act scheduled to take effect in 2014.

Director of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) Renee Amar told local business advocates Tuesday about how the health insurance tax that will take effect in 2014 will negatively affect private sector job growth in Louisiana.
