Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Jean Collins Moore, 81, will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, in Union Baptist Church. Rev. Gerald Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery under direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. Saturday in the church until time of funeral services.
Mrs. Moore entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 10, in Jennings American Legion Hospital.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Arthur; a member of Antioch Baptist Church; Lake Arthur Women’s Club; an instructor at Jeff Davis Parish School Board for 50-plus years; former Director of Christian Education at Antioch Baptist Church; a 1948 graduate of Jeff Davis Training School; a graduate of Spellman College in Atlanta, Ga.; former director of Jeff Davis Head Start; and a former alderman for the Town of Lake Arthur.
Survivors include two daughters, Valerie (Thomas) Pete of Lake Charles and Adrienne Abel of Lake Arthur; four grandchildren, Robert (Santana) Holman, Alix and Samantha Abel all of Lake Arthur and Jordan Turner of Lake Charles; five great-grandchildren, special friend Robert Rubin of Jennings and a dear cousin, Erma Thomas of Lake Arthur.
