Charles E. Gary Sr.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Mr. Charles “Charlie” E. Gary Sr., 70, today, Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Funeral home visitation was held on Saturday, July 28, 2012, from 3:30-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue today, Sunday, July 29, from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
Mr. Gary died at 12:15 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012, at his residence.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Jennings. He was a former owner and co-owner of Gary Construction and present owner of Gary Tire Center. Mr. Gary was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, a Eucharistic Minister, Cajun French Music Association, Woodmen of the World and the Louisiana Bowling Association. He was an Army veteran, having served his country during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Gary was a loving husband and wonderful father, brother and friend to all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Gary is survived by his wife, Peggy Fay Darbonne Gary of Jennings; a daughter, Jennifer Gail ( Joey) Tassin of Lake Charles; two sons, Charles “Chip” Edward (Audrey)Gary Jr., of Baton Rouge and Gregory John Gary and fianceé Brittany James of Fort Collins, Co; two sisters, JoAnna (Kelly) Parsley and Jeanette (Mike) Briggs, both of Jennings; three brothers, Robert (Dot) Gary of Jennings, Fred (Peggy) Gary of Lake Charles, and Michael (Pegge) Gary of Jennings; and six grandchildren, Logan Gary, Joseph Tassin Jr., Sophia Tassin, Christopher Tassin, Isabella Tassin and Olivia Tassin.
Mr. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Loris Fruge Gary; and a sister, Della Ruth Person.
