Fenton Veteran Honored With Parade

Daily News photos by Allison Cryer

WWII and Korean Conflict veteran U.S. Marine Corporal Woodrow Duhon, 84, of Fenton returned home Friday, June 29, to be greeted by residents, family and friends and honored with a parade through the town, as well as a key to the Village of Fenton. Last week, Duhon traveled to Washington, D.C., to join around 500 other WWII veterans who were stationed at the training camp Montford Point from 1942 to 1949 and forced to endure harsh conditions because of their race. Over 60 years later, the group was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for their sacrifices.
