Optimist Club Gives Thanks

Dear Editor,

The members of the Optimist Club of Jennings, Inc. would like to thank the community for their support during our annual watermelon sale fundraiser.

Without the community’s support, our sale of Sugartown watermelons could not and would not be such a success every year. It is with much pride and optimism that we can say many, many local children will be served because of your support.

Every dollar the community spent will, in turn, be spent on youth projects in our community. A few of those projects include a hotdog party for all pee wee and flag football players and cheerleaders, sponsorship of soccer, basketball and baseball teams and hot dog parties for those teams, an Oratorical and Essay contest with college scholarship awards, a graduation scholarship, Respect for Law awards, Rising Star awards, Mock Arrest, the Punt, Pass and Kick Program, Jennings High School (JHS) Octagon Club, Operation Graduation at JHS, as well as the Optimist Leukemia Foundation.

Again, we say “Thank you” for your loyal support. We will be looking forward to seeing you again next summer. The youth of today, our leaders of tomorrow are worth every minute we spend in the heat. Thank you for allowing us to serve our youth.

Yours in Optimism,

Lenor Broussard Cox

President

Optimist Club of Jennings, Inc.
