Dear Editor,
Is there really an item called “The Truth”? Where is it?
Most parents have told their children how important it is to be truthful, while seldom practicing the principle themselves. When caught in the deceit, the easy explanation would be “it was only a little white lie; the truth would have caused too much trouble”.
Our court system goes to great lengths to allow hiding the truth, or allowing lawyers to circumvent the truth if it helps their clients. The Miranda law, and laws against self incrimination are just two examples, there are many more. Hiding the truth is accepted so long as the process of law has been followed. The Judicial system in France is considered to have a more just outcome than that of the United States because of the differences in the two systems. A word with more than one definition, “Casuistry”, comes close to defining our justice system. One definition says “clever but erroneous reasoning often resulting in the wrong conclusion, often used in our legal system to circumvent the truth”.
A question asked to two well educated people will invariably get to distinctly opposite answers if there is a political implication, and the two are democrat, and republican. Is there never a truthful answer to a question? “Four million green jobs were created by the Obama Administration”! Sounds real good for green energy doesn’t it? Investigative reporters had to dig out the truth. The politicians counted every existing garbage collector, school bus driver, public parks employee, all government employees, and employees who had worked for bankrupt solar companies and have since lost their jobs in the survey. Another total lie!
There remains little hope for our children to learn morality, and speaking the truth when the highest ranked people leading our Nation never speak a word of truth if it doesn’t forward their political agenda, or personal wealth. Our President has on documented video told so many bold faced lies during his political career, and in his book, “Dreams From My Father”, there is no point listening to what he says. What he has said, and what he has done seem to travel in opposite directions.
Our Supreme Court, I thought during my early education, was the most learned, most moral, most respected group of people in the United States. Each one carefully selected for one main purpose; to evaluate laws which affect the American taxpayer, to be sure that the laws in question do not violate the very carefully thought out guidelines laid out by our founding fathers. These guidelines, by the way, have laid the foundation that has created a country that is envied by all other peoples around the world. Those guidelines are called our Constitution.
If all these chosen Judges are expert in their knowledge of our Constitution, and if they are not politically inclined, why is there always a four to four split on every law that has some political significance, and one of the nine has to come in to make the headlines with the deciding vote. In my own little world of thinking no Judge should be appointed to the bench who is registered as Democrat or Republican. They should be registered as Independent or simply list no political preference. I will remind you who take the time to read these letters to the editor of something I have said many times before: George Washington was afraid of the two political parties existent in his day, and made this statement in his farewell address “I fear that the political parties will over a period of time promote the welfare of the party over the welfare and good of the people we have dedicated ourselves to serve”. We are seeing Washington ‘s words in action, and we the taxpaying public have a monumental task before us. Do we want to do away with the plan our forefathers crafted so expertly, and turn our destiny over to Government Bureaucrats, or do we want to be the rulers of our own destiny. Government has never succeeded in anything they have decided to manage. Don’t allow them to experiment with the future of your children and grandchildren. Throw out all politicians who feel that Government should take whatever they want from your labors, and give back to you what they think you deserve. If you agree with these thoughts join me at the voting booths in November.
