Days after the mass shootings in a Colorado theater that left 12 dead and dozens more injured, guns shifted to the forefront of the presidential campaign.
President Barack Obama, in a speech in New Orleans earlier in the week, embraced some degree of additional restrictions on guns and said not enough has been done to prevent weapons from getting into the hands of criminals.
