Virginia Mae Cantrell
WELSH – Funeral services for Virginia Mae Cantrell, 88, were held today, Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Roanoke Mission Church. Rev. Darrell Hieronymus officiated. Visitation was held on Monday, July 2, from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., and resumed today, Tuesday, July 3, from 8 a.m. until the time of her service at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
She passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, in a nursing home.
She was of Baptist faith and a retired nurse. She loved animals, powder puff derby stock car driver and loved her family.
Survivors are one son, Kenneth (Peggy) Cantrell; one daughter-in-law, Maggie Husk; three sisters, Tinkey Curtis, Kay Chapman and Sherry Wheeler; one brother, Rodney Wood; two special friends, Betty Breaux and Tye Duhon; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Reid and Ruby Wood; one son, Robert Husk; and three brothers, Audley Wood, Conroy Reid, A.D. Reid.
