WELSH – Police here are investigating an Independence Day argument between a father and son that left a woman with a bullet wound to her leg.

Welsh Assistant Police Chief Donald “Lucky” Delouche said this morning that the shooting took place early Wednesday at 311 South King Street in Welsh. A disturbance took place between a father and son, who ended up fighting over a gun. At some point, the gun was discharged and ended up firing one shot into the upper thigh of the son’s wife. The woman was transported to an area hospital and as of press time today was listed in stable condition with a Lafayette medical facility.
