Reader Shares Views On Voting
Dear Editor,
The right to vote, the franchise, is probably the most sacred of a citizen’s rights! Unfortunately, it is taken too lightly, too often, by too many.
The franchise is the ONLY voice the common citizen has to dictate the direction of the country.
For the attorney general to state that no law should be enacted or enforced that assures only those who are entitled to vote, can, is tantamount to treason. The attorney general, with the consent of his boss and parroted by the mainstream media, is unilaterally usurping the rights of every American who has earned the right to vote. His logic also dictates that no law should be enacted or enforced that require any kind of ID to purchase alcohol, tobacco, drive, get on a plane, etc., etc., etc.! But these IDs and their relevant costs are not mentioned, let alone questioned or challenged by the attorney general. Political expediency should not be on, let alone, the only thing on the attorney general’s docket! If the attorney general can selectively enforce the laws he likes and ignore the ones he doesn’t like; does that mean the public can obey the laws they like and ignore the ones they don’t like? If so, look out! What would the attorney general do to someone similarly situated, who ignored enacted laws and advocated actions beneficial to foreigners and foreign governments at the expense of and perilous to Americans and America? As previously stated, the attorney general should be, at most, prosecuted for treason; at least, prosecuted for malfeasance.
Sadly, it is abundantly evident that politicians, both elected and appointed, dedicate their every effort, their very being, toward keeping a particular political party in power. Similarly, they could care less about protecting and preserving America and her rightful citizens.
Sincerely,
Mel Schulthess
