DNC Final Conclusion: More Time

Dear Editor,

After all the political rhetoric of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), “hope and change” morphed into “more time.” Sounds more like an “excuse” rather than a justification and affirmation of Obama’s first term. “More time?” Well, let’s see now. Obama didn’t seem to need more time to accumulate more debt ($6.5 trillion) than all presidents before him combined ($6.3 trillion). He didn’t need more time to put 12 trillion more people on food stamps, a whopping 45 percent increase in just one term. He didn’t need more time to increase Americans in poverty from 39.8 million to 46.2 million, a 6.4 million increase. Does this sound like we are going “forward?” We saw our national debt rise to $16 trillion on the first day of the DNC. Then I heard President Kennedy’s daughter, Caroline, say that she was going to talk about Obama’s record and smiled, because no one can do that and keep a straight face. Our national debt at $16 trillion is fast reaching a tipping point, because our economy cannot much longer sustain our top-heavy debt. I may have missed it, but I didn’t hear anyone at the DNC talk seriously about our national debt. One thing is for certain this DNC has revealed. What is glaringly missing this time is the Messianic aura of 2008. It seems that Obama’s record has revealed the fact that Obama is but a mere man, a man who is failing as President of the United States.
