DERIDDER – The Jennings Bulldogs did not wait until the final minutes of Friday’s game with the DeRidder Dragons to determine the outcome of the contest. After last week’s overtime victory against St. Louis, the visiting Bulldogs decided to take control over the Dragons early, scoring on their first offensive possession of the night. Jennings only trailed once in the contest by a 14-13 count early in the second quarter. Jennings outscored the Dragons 27-7 the rest of the night for a convincing 40-21 win over their class 4-A opponent.
“I was once again very proud of the kids and coaching staff,” said Bulldog Head Coach Rusty Phelps. “You just don’t ever know how you are going to bounce back after an emotional win last week. We talked all week about finishing drives and getting off the field on third down and creating some turnovers. We went out tonight and created some turnovers, got off the field and forced some three and outs.”
