JPD makes arrest in bank robbery

Daily News Staff Report

The Jennings Police Department (JPD) saw a busy week fueled by an armed robbery investigation and two major drug arrests.

The armed robbery case began Aug. 30 when two unidentified individuals entered the West Division Branch of Jeff Davis Bank with handguns and made off with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects fled the scene on bicycles, which they dumped about one block away at an abandoned Washington Street home. The suspects then reportedly fled in a getaway vehicle that was parked at the home.

On Thursday night, Sept. 6, police executed a search warrant at a Southwind Apartments residence off of Airport Road in Jennings where Cedric James Sinegal, 41, of Jennings, resides. According to JPD Deputy Chief Danny Semmes, during the search, police not only recovered evidence related to the armed robbery, but also discovered what they believe to be narcotics. Semmes said the two different narcotics are being processed, but preliminary tests did reveal at least one of the substances tested positive for traces of cocaine.
