The lazies and crazies are of no use

I’m Just Sayin’

by SHEILA SMITH

You have a job. You pay your bills, even when that means doing without other necessities or items you would like to have. You make decent money before taxes but after Uncle Sam gets his cut, you have peanuts left in your pocket. You need gas in your vehicle but it costs $3.65 per gallon right now, so that cuts even further into your expenses.

After the absolute necessities are paid, you head to the grocery store with a set amount of dollars to spend. You buy what you need (all off-brands) and some of the things you need actually have to wait until the next pay day. So you head to the checkout line and wait as the woman ahead of you unloads her grocery cart filled with junk food; choice meat; sodas; bottled water; name-brand products; and more.

The woman is quite beautiful (save for her pajamas). Her nails are professionally manicured (as are her toes) and her hair was recently highlighted. She’s updating her Facebook status on her iPhone. Then she pulls out her Louisiana Purchase card – you know the rest of the story.

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is taking a lot of heat right now because secretly recorded video has surfaced of comments he made to a rich group of supporters at a private dinner earlier this year. While I’m not completely for Romney or President Barack Obama, I must say: I wish Romney had made his comments in public for everyone to hear because he is undoubtedly right.

Here is what the press is having a field day with, some of the exact Romney quotes taken from the video:

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…Our message of low taxes doesn’t connect…so my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives. What I have to do is convince the five to 10 percent in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful….”

If any person, Democrat, Republican or Independent, would approach me to disagree with Romney’s statement, I would have to assume they have lived with their head buried in sand since birth.

The Democratic Party is the “bleeding heart party”, as I like to say, that automatically believes everyone is a victim. Oh, some Muslims in the Middle East had their feelings hurt because of a video insulting their prophet? Let’s say we understand their pain and stand back while they attack our embassies. Oh, you had unprotected sex even though you know the consequences and now you have a baby or babies you can’t pay for? Let’s give you taxpayer-sponsored daycare, medical care, education and food. We’ll even pay for your birth control since you seem to have trouble keeping your clothes on. Oh, the birth control did not work? It’s okay, we’ll pay for your abortion.

Now, I’m an Independent voter, but cry me a river and go hug a tree. There are people who truly need assistance because of no fault of their own, but slothfulness and promiscuity are faults stemming from personal choices. Taxpayers do not force people to not work or pretend they have some disability that keeps them from working. Taxpayers do not force people to lie down and make babies. Was someone in a car accident that left him or her disabled, preventing them from working? I will personally take my little paycheck and buy them groceries. A parent became quite ill and was unable to work for a time, so they applied for food stamps? It was not their fault they became so ill; have a heart and let them have a food stamp card for a month or two.

One of the greatest presidents and historical figures of this nation, Abraham Lincoln, said it best: “You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.” I agree with those words and believe most others do, too. One of the many issues bringing this nation to its knees are the women and men being permanently “helped” by the government when they could and should be doing for themselves.

Personally, I do not think the government is doing this because they see an actual need in society. It is a legal way to buy votes. If I was the type of person who was lazy enough to have everything handed to me via taxpayers, I would be crazy to let my meal ticket out of office. Lazy or not, those people will find a way out of the their beds to cast a vote for the person or party who will continue to allow those leeches of society to siphon the benefits law-abiding taxpayers should reap. Certain elected officials and political parties know it is a guaranteed vote when their political platforms condone slothfulness.

It is the same scenario with female voters across all political parties, crying that they deserve free birth control or abortions. So taxpayers should have to foot the bill because some women want to spread free love? Basically, those women want to be prostitutes who view taxpayers as their pimps.

“It’s a woman’s right,” many say; I’m sorry, are we still in 1950? It’s also a woman’s right to work. If she needs or wants birth control or abortions so badly, let her be a real woman, get a job and pay for her own needs. I am amazed that cuts to health funds have left millions of women without an affordable way to have life-saving mammograms; but I am even more amazed that more women are willing to fight for free birth control and abortions rather than affordable tests that are the difference between life and death.

Frankly, I have no sympathy for the lazies or die-hard feminists. They are only concerned with themselves while the rest of us are concerned about America.
