Maurine M. Nevill
Memorial services will be held for Maurine M. Nevill, 95, at First United Methodist Church of Lake Arthur, 323 New Orleans Avenue, Lake Arthur, on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 11 a.m.
Maurine M. Nevill, nee Marshall, formerly of Lake Arthur, was born August 31, 1916. She went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2012, at the age of 95, at the Rolling Hills Nursing Home, Zion, Ill.
She attended LSU and McNeese State, studying Home Economics and Education, ultimately receiving a Master’s degree. After spending 20 years raising her children, Charles and Dorothy, Maurine devoted her life to teaching and counseling high school students in Lake Arthur and spent summers traveling extensively with her grandchildren: Jeffrey, Michael, Allison and Steve. While not teaching or traveling, she enjoyed church and social endeavors, sewing, cooking, reading and painting. She was a member of the York House UMC in Beach Park, Eastern Star, Lake Arthur Library Club, and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by a cherished sister, Loretta (Richard) Rhodes, of Falls Church, Va.; a loving son, Charles Perkins of Beach Park, Ill.; a loving son-in-law, Wayne (Rose) Gray of Westlake, Ill.; four beloved grandchildren; five dear great-grandchildren; a loving stepson, Michael (Janeth) Nevill; and three beloved step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Dorothy (Wayne) Gray, of Sulphur; her parents, Charles and Mabel Marshall; her sister, Genevieve (Charles) Brown; her brother, Francis Marshall; her husband of 22 years, Jack E. Perkins; and her husband of 13 years, Marvin E. Nevill.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Maurine to First UMC of Lake Arthur, P. O. Box 606, Lake Arthur, La., 70549, a church she and her family had previously been involved for a number of years.
