Mosquito population up with heavy August rainfall

Jeff Davis Parish Mosquito Abatement Dist. 1 Manager Curt Bowers said his office has been working overtime this summer trying to protect citizens from the dangers posed by the large number of mosquitoes in the parish due to heavy rainfall.

Bowers said that due to the increased levels of rainfall in the parish since March of this year, the mosquito population has increased.
