Reader shares beliefs
Dear Editor,
I take offense when a person says that we cannot accept one rule “religious” and ignore another. It is done every day when a Christian chooses to do as he pleases.
Christ told Peter, our first Pope, “Whatever you bound on earth will be bound in Heaven.”
Official church rules: This is not accepted by the Pope. Some ministries go against this policy, but others do not stray.
Dissolving marriage: People actually annul what Christ joined together. Honor thy Father and Mother: We put our parents and grandparents in nursing homes because it would inconvenience our lives to take care of them.
Taking the Lord’s name in vain: The same tongue that receives “our savior” was used to utter foul language.
Thou shall not kill: The same people that are pro-life want to kill a murderer that killed their family member. Rules are bent to one’s beliefs.
Republicans use the pro-life argument to make people believe this is a free pass to kill babies. Not true. Pro-choice sometimes protects our children from going back to the coat hanger days.
If my eleven-year-old granddaughter were raped, family should decide if she should be forced to go through childbirth – not the government.
Another example is when a female is raped by a family member, sometimes her father. She should not have to carry this through.
Once a young girl with a hole in her heart was raped and because of her beliefs tried to carry this child. They both died.
A bus full of nuns went to the Democratic Convention. Sister Simone Campbell had a speech to contest cutbacks to services for vulnerable Americans that would be necessary under Romney’s budget.
I have a passion for the Democratic Party and the Catholic Church, but I will follow my heart and vote for Obama.
