Reader Shares Views on Christianity Misjudgement
Dear Editor,
Christianity today has many serious problems. Our postmodern culture views authentic Christianity as socially oppressive. There are many internal problems within Christianity that diminish our ability to be a credible influence. Our ability to be a serious influence in society is at an all time low. Most of our churches are more interested in promoting themselves instead of Christ. The modern day church has experienced a paradigm shift from “ministry” to “entertainment.” But the single point I want to make today has to do with the way the world judges the church, or devotees. To be sure, so many so-called Christians have never behaved so badly, or in a manner that contradicts their Christian faith. But if one judges Christianity by the behavior of Christians, they have used the wrong basis for doing so. While I do not condone the un-Christian like behavior of so many, Christianity does not rise or fall on the behavior of Christians. The strength of Christianity is not found in the imperfection of its followers, but in the perfection of its Founder.
