The Jennings Daily News’ (JDN) purpose is to keep you informed about happenings around the parish and in your community. Our newspaper is filled with various stories, pictures and features like Sports, Opinions and Lifestyles, among others.

While we do our best to cover important events in our area, we also depend on our readers to tell us what issues are most important to them.

Each week, the JDN features “Letters to the Editor” from local citizens who have something to say. Whether you want to speak out on an international event, national issue or something taking place in your own back yard, we want your opinions about the topics affecting you, your community and the parish.

In what areas do you feel local elected officials need to dedicate more of their time? What do you believe are the biggest issues facing the nation on the road to electing the next president? Do you have opinions on criminal activity in Jeff Davis Parish? What type of businesses would you like to see in this area?

There are so many subjects to address and many opinions to be shared. It’s also possible that there is an area of interest the JDN has overlooked; your concerns just might be what this newspaper needs to hear in order to find answers or expose underlying problems.

Anyone is invited to write to us: elected officials; business owners; students; parents; senior citizens; and anyone else in this area who has something to say. We are all affected by different issues and everyone has their own point of view.

The guidelines for writing a Letter to the Editor are simple. All letters must be signed and include the writer’s address and telephone number for verification. Letters should address community or national issues and events, not personal vendettas against individuals or businesses. (Furthermore, the JDN reserves the right to edit and/or deny publication of any letter, though this only happens if guidelines are ignored.)
