Clemence Klumpp Leger
A Mass of Christian burial for Clemence Klumpp Leger, 96, will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee-Mamou with Father David Broussard officiating. Burial will be in the mausoleum at Reed Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, from 3:30-9 p.m., and will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.
Mrs. Leger passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at 11 p.m. at Jeff Davis Living Center in Jennings.
A native of Acadia Parish and resident of Tee-Mamou, she and her husband of 67 years, Oris P. “Slim” Leger spent their years farming in Roberts Cove, Fenton and Tee-Mamou. Cleo, affectionally called “KK” by all her loved ones, was a soft-spoken, sweet, gentle and compassionate soul. She loved reading non-fiction and listening to her special music.
As a young girl, she entered the Sisters of Divine Providence Order in San Antonio, Texas, but was unable to complete her studies due to her poor health at the time.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Eva D. Klumpp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cleo was the eighth child of Angeline and Joseph Klumpp, and was one of 10 children.
Preceding her in death were Felix, Dominic, Roman and J.C. Klumpp, Lucy Guillory, Naize Francois, Marie Fish, Emma June Wood and Laura Hoffpauir.
