Curney James Lyons
GONZALES – Curney James Lyons, a resident of Dutchtown and a native of Mire, died on Oct. 3, 2012, of complications from Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases. He was 79.
Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. in Gonzales. Visiting resumed on Saturday, Oct. 6 at First United Methodist Church, 224 W. Constitution St. in Gonzales from 9 a.m., with a religious service at 10 a.m. Burial was in Oaklane Memorial Park Cemetery Prairieville.
He was employed by the Texas Pipeline Company, Texaco, and retired from Star Enterprises as manager of accounting. He was a leader of Boy Scouts of America and an advisor for Junior Achievement.
Curney’s loves were his family and friends, great food, good company, a decent golf score, and a sunny day for fishing.
Curney is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley (Walden) Lyons; his sons and daughters-in-law,Thomas (Lisa) Lyons and Hoyt (Kristi) Lyons; his daughters and son-in-law, Marie Lyons (Kevin) Brown and Jennifer Lyons; his sisters, Dr. Virginia (Ellyn Hartman) Lyons and Sister Vernola Lyons, FMOL; his grandchildren, Sydney Brown-Chua and Bryce and Carly Lyons; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Bernadette (Bearb) Lyons; his brothers, John, Paul Aaron and Leo Lyons; and his granddaughter, Megan Leigh Brown.
