JDP earns ‘B’ in School Performance scoring

By SHEILA SMITH

Assistant Editor

Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) public schools have earned an overall letter grade of B under the State Department of Education’s district performance scoring for 2011-2012, jumping a total of five percent since last year’s scoring.

According to the state, the scores are based mostly on standardized test scores but also considered attendance, dropout and graduation rates. JDP Superintendent of Schools David Clayton noted that the scores are not the result of sweeping education reforms passed by the Louisiana Legislature earlier this year.
