Jennings falls to Pios

The Jennings Bulldogs and Notre Dame Pioneers opened district play in Jerry Simmons Stadium Friday night. Both teams entered the fray having put up some good numbers in recent games. If fans were looking for a shootout, they left the Dog Pound disappointed. The Pios prevailed in a low scoring 23-0 affair. Notre Dame took advantage of a stingy defense, field position and great special teams play.

Notre Dame’s defense held the Dogs to 80 yards rushing and only 17 through the air. The Pioneers’ first two scoring drives covered only 62 yards. The Bulldogs average starting field position was their 19-yard line until the Maroon Wall fell on a Pioneer fumble at the Notre Dame 26-yard line.
