It’s with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Laura Daigle Miller announces her passing from this life on Sept. 29, 2012. She was 84 years old. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Jules Catholic Church in celebration of her life.

She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Jules Cemetery with Father David Broussard officiating her service.

Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m. until the time of her services.

Laura was born in Evangeline to the late Ursin Daigle and the late Marie LaSage Daigle on Oct. 17, 1927. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She loved to cook and bake. She worked as a cafeteria worker at West End, Central School, OLI and also Brownie’s Café. She enjoyed working in her garden and dancing.

Laura is survived by her three sons, Richard Steve (Frances) Miller of Evangeline, Tommy (Janice) Miller of Iota, and Lynn Dale (Suzette) Miller of Evangeline; one daughter, Sharlene (Thom) Myers of Charleston, S.C.; her sister, Cecile Fruge of Evangeline; eight grandchildren, Wade, Billy, Julie, Jeff, Angie, Mike, Stanley and Kate; and her five great-grandchildren.

Laura now rests in Heaven with her beloved family whom preceded her in death: her parents, Ursin and Marie L. Daigle; her husband, James R. “Slim” Miller; three sisters, Ann Beard, Eve Goodman and Louise Cormier; and one brother, Lufroi “Poncho” Daigle.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Wade Miller, Billy Miller, Jeffery Paul Miller Michael Shane Miller, Stanley James Miller, Jody Herbert and Brannon Manuel. Frances Miller will serve as honorary pallbearer.
