Veltan Marie LaComb
Lake Arthur – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Veltan Marie LaComb announces her passing from this life on Sept. 30, 2012, while surrounded by her beloved family. She was 74 years old. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur in celebration of her life. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Anthony Cemetery with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating her services.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass.
Veltan Marie was born to the late Sanders Istre and the late Mabel Dupuis Istre in Mermentau on April 16, 1938. She worked 19 1/2 years as a rural mail carrier. She was a very sweet and loving woman who never met a stranger. Mrs. Veltan was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Follow Me Program. She enjoyed cooking and visiting with people.
Mrs. Veltan is survived by her two sons, Kevin James (Debbie) LaComb of Lake Arthur, and Isaac LaComb Jr. also of Lake Arthur; two daughters, Sheila (Jim) Thibodeaux of Lafayette, and Darla LaComb of Lake Arthur; her two sisters, Kathleen (LeRay) Comeaux of Lake Charles, and Martha Hargrave of Crowley; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one on the way; her special lifelong friend, William “Bill” LaBauve of Jennings; and her lifelong sister in Christ, Sandra Broussard Klumpp of Lake Charles.
Mrs. Veltan now rests in Heaven with her beloved family whom preceded her in death: her parents, Sanders and Mabel Istre; her husband, Isaac Louis LaComb Sr.; one brother, Corneil Istre; and her sister, Lou Ella Istre.
Carrying Mrs. Veltan to her eternal resting place in St. Anthony Cemetery will be Michael Istre, Floyd Istre, Brock Thibodeaux, James LaComb, Isaac “Zack” LaComb and Devin LaComb. Honorary pallbearers will be Hillary Klumpp Jr., Cody LeJeune and Dylan LeJeune.
In lieu of flowers, the LaComb family requests donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana Inc. at 2600 Johnston Street, Suite #200, Lafayette, La.
