Yellow Rails and Rice fest returns

Daily News Staff Report

The fourth annual Yellow Rails and Rice Festival kicks off this Wednesday, Oct. 24, with pre-festival trips to the White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area in Gueydan, and LSU Museum of Natural Science in Baton Rouge.

The festival runs through Sunday and is based in Jennings at the Hampton Inn and Suites and Grand Marais Ballroom. Designed with fun in mind, its primary goal is to provide participants a unique venue to view Yellow Rails – an elusive marsh bird – while bringing together birdwatchers and area rice farmers to realize the value of the area’s working wetlands.
