Charles Ray Broussard, of Lowry, was born on Jan. 25, 1967, to Clifford and Carrie Jean Moore Broussard. A lifelong resident of Lowry, Charlie graduated from Lake Arthur High School in 1985. He attended McNeese State University before becoming a full time farmer in 1986, embracing the career he cherished since childhood. He and his father, Clifford, farmed rice, soybeans, and cattle on the Streeter’s Ranch before farming on the Lacassine Company. They farmed until 2006 when salt water intrusion following Hurricane Rita infiltrated the crop land. He worked for Suncoast Oil and Land Services and the Lacassine Rod and Gun Club since 2006. Charlie was also the Lowry Fire Chief for 10 years. He loved his family, his friends and hunting. He never met a single stranger that he didn’t befriend.

Charlie is survived by his parents, Clifford and Carrie Jean Broussard of Lowry; one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Melanie Broussard of Lake Charles; and one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Chad Woods of Lake Arthur. He was known as “Uncle Charlie” to six nieces and nephews, Heidi Fontenot Duplantis, Clay Fontenot, Saidi and Cassidi Woods, Madeleine and Caroline Broussard.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Curly and Lillian Moore; his paternal grandparents, Cleveland and Dorothy Broussard; and three uncles, Ronald Hughes Broussard, Roy “Toddy” Moore and Wilbert “Nookie” Moore.

Carrying Charlie to his eternal resting place will be Clay Fontenot, Lonnie Broussard, Scott Weekley, Marvin Gaspard, Carl Quebedeaux, Jeff Moore, Timmy Fontenot and Kevin Thomas.
