EUNICE – With much sorrow, the family announces the passing of Edward LaFleur, who peacefully slipped away in his 86th year, with family by his side, at the Kindred Hospital in Lafayette on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Nathan Comeaux, celebrant.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., and will resume on Friday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

A proud veteran, Edward served in the United States Navy. He was a welder and he worked hard all his life. Most of all, Edward adored his wife and family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a supportive, giving and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be very deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Ernestine Daigle LaFleur of Eunice; his son, Steven LaFleur and companion, Melisa Bergeron of Eunice; his three daughters, Diane (Dale) Cormier of Eunice, Julie (Glenn) Johnson and Elizabeth (Robert) Johnson, all of Evangeline; his brothers, Huey (Helen) LaFleur of Evangeline, Joseph “Blackie” LaFleur of Jennings; three sisters, Belle Agee of Denham Springs, Nell Davidge of Natalbany and Patty Picard of Westlake. He was blessed with nine grandchildren; further blessed with twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Joseph and Ella Guillory LaFleur; brothers, Elbridge and Harry LaFleur; sisters, Lillie Ardoin, Verlie Guillory and Bertha LaFleur; and a great-great-granddaughter, Abbie Claire Miller.
