Help Sandy’s Victims
Dear Editor,
As someone who endured hardships during hurricanes, I understand what the victims of Hurricane Sandy are facing.
My mother’s home, where I live, was badly damaged. It rained inside the home. I fixed what I could but there is still damage today that causes problems. I was not able to get help from FEMA. I still have problems connected with the hurricanes that damaged my home.
We don’t know what it’s like not to have food, water, gas for transportation or electricity in our homes, especially during very cold weather. It’s a very sad situation for many and as someone who went through those things, I know it’s hard. We are blessed but don’t realize it. There are plenty of things we could do for those people like so many did for us during hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike.
I am hoping and praying that FEMA does help those people but I am asking people to do whatever they can to help, too. People need pots, pans, clothing, food, money – so many things that we could help them with. I ask everyone to consider what they can do and help Hurricane Sandy’s victims.
