WELSH – Police here have issued an arrest warrant for a New Orleans man suspected of robbing a Russell Avenue gas station, as well as stores in Jennings, Kinder and Sulphur.

Welsh Police Chief Tommy Chaisson said the warrant was issued for Michael S. Bias, 44, of New Orleans, suspected in the Sept. 18 robbery of the Exxon station in Welsh. Bias is suspected of entering the establishment around 3:25 p.m. that day. He allegedly walked to a cooler, grabbed a soda then placed it on the counter and proceeded to pay. Once the cashier opened the register to complete the transaction, however, Bias allegedly reached over and took an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the scene.
