Paul Perkins

Funeral services for Paul Perkins, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Union Baptist Church in Jennings with Pastor Gerald Perkins officiating.

Burial will be in Benevolent Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.

Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church.

Mr. Perkins died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Jennings and was a member of Union Baptist Church. He was president of the Voices of Brotherhood. He was retired from the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Department and was a former employee of Jeff Davis Bank and bus driver for Head Start.

A U.S. Army veteran, he will be buried with full military rites conducted at the cemetery by a squad from Fort Polk.

He is survived by three daughters, Sheryl Lyons of New Orleans, Renee South of Kinder and Cicely Perkins of Houston, Texas; five sons, Ricky Perkins of Kinder, Gary Perkins of Sulphur, Reginald Perkins and Kevin Perkins, both of Houston, Texas, and Derrick Perkins of Jennings; three sisters, Vera Abraham and Barbara Williams, both of Hathaway, and Mary Sonnier of Natchitoches; five brothers, Earl Perkins, Donald Perkins and Ben Ray Perkins, all of Hathaway, Herbert Perkins of Alexandria, and Peter Perkins of Monroe; his niece/daughter, Linzette Reed of Joliet,  Ill.; and a hose of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Breaux; his sister, Nettie Winston; and his brother, Ervin Perkins.
