Robert Lynn Boone
Mowata – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church for Robert Lynn Boone, 73, who died at 5:42 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Crowley American Legion Hospital.
Fr. Kendal Faulk, pastor of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be observed today, Thursday, Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Boone was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Iota to the late Luke and Helen Lejeune Boone. He was a 1957 graduate of Egan High School and a graduate of LSU Banking School of the South. He worked for 40-plus years with the Bank of Commerce before retiring as a senior vice president. He was an avid deer hunter and loved to be in the woods with his family and friends. He was a member of Through Jesus Through Mary Prayer Group, a member and past president of the Crowley Rotary Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Redemptorist School Board and a past athletic director of Redemptorist Catholic School. He was an auxiliary member of the Acadia Parish Sheriff Department. He was a member and treasurer of the Crowley Vaux-Sur-Sure Twinning Group, a volunteer with the Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care Association and a member and past treasurer of Cajuns Gourmands.
He is survived by his wife, Romona Burton Boone of Richard; his children, Carlos (Lori) Boone of Youngsville, Gregory Boone of Evangeline, Gretchen (Roger) Hebert of Roberts Cove, Sonya Boone of Houston, Texas, and Lynn (Charlene) Boone of Richard; a sister, Marsha (J.W.) Fruge of Mire; a brother, Horance (Shirley) Boone of Shreveport; his grandchildren, Luke (Maggie) Boone, Haley B. Osborne, Dori Boone-Constantino (Jason), William (Brittany) Boone, Shea Boone, Ellyn Boone, Madelyn Boone, Tyler Boone, Jaclyn Boone, Julie Boone, Emily Boone, Hayden Boone and Carson Boone; his great-grandchildren, Ethan Boone, Lane Boone and Luke Theo Boone; step-grandchildren, Rachel (Patrick) Leger and Ryan Hebert; his step great-grandchildren, Maci Leger and Landon Leger; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Lejeune and Luke Theo Boone; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gertrude Hensgens and Louis Burton.
Pallbearers will be Shea Boone, Hayden Boone, Tyler Boone, Jason Constantino, Gerald Doucet Jr. and Shawn Herpin. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Boone, William Boone, Carson Boone and Ryan Hebert.
The family would like to thank Dr. Satinder Saini, Dr. David Baker, Dr. Masoud Yazdi, Dr. Ghyass Rixk, Gremillion’s Drug Store, DCI of Crowley and the Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care Association.
