Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff Ivy Woods is warning the public that scammers are still working hard to steal money from unsuspecting individuals.

Two area residents, one from Jennings and another from Lake Arthur, reported suspicious phone calls to the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office (JDSO) between last week and Tuesday morning. According to both residents, they received a call from someone who identified himself as Michael Jackson with the Mega-Millions State Lottery for White Clearinghouse. The caller told one resident she had supposedly won a Mercedez Benz and gift card for $50,000; the other resident was told they had won a BMW and $7.4 million.
