Acey Joseph Benoit
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. honoring the life of Acey Joseph Benoit, 88, who died Dec. 20, 2012, while surrounded by his family. Mr. Benoit will be laid to rest in Istre Cemetery with the Very Most Reverend Anthony Fontenot officiating his services.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, from 2:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited by Deacon Bennett McNeil at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 8 a.m. until the time of his services.
Acey Joseph was born in Morse on Sept. 4, 1924, to the late Sidney Benoit and the late Eva Istre Benoit. Mr. Acey loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who will forever cherish his memory. He also enjoyed working in his yard, his shop and attending church services. He worked in the oilfield industry for 25 years and was a plant operator for Superior Oil. He was part owner of A & E Western Store.
Mr. Acey is survived by his four sons: George Ray (Elaine) Benoit of Breaux Bridge, Michael Benoit of Tucson, Ariz., Wayne (Brenda) Benoit of Jennings, and Matt (Charlotta) Benoit of Lake Arthur; two daughters, Melissa Cormier of Lake Charles, and Marie McGee of Jennings; one brother, Ben Benoit of Texas; one sister, Mazie Caswell of Jennings; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Acey was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lucille Blanchard Benoit; two brothers, J.D. and Nugie Benoit; and one sister, Zula Hoffpauir.
Carrying Mr. Acey to his final resting place will be his four sons, George Ray Benoit, Michael Benoit, Wayne Benoit and Matt Benoit; along with Kent Benoit and Robbie Cormier. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Benoit, Adam Benoit, Keith Benoit, Bryant Rudd Jr. and Erik Abshire.
