Area Christmas Celebrations

   The City of Jennings and the Town of Elton held their Christmas celebrations this past weekend. The Town of Lake Arthur will host its annual holiday celebration, “Christmas on the Lake,” on Saturday, Dec. 8 starting with a gumbo cook-off at 12 p.m. A parade down Arthur Avenue will start at 6 p.m. with lineup beginning at 5 p.m. Immediately following the parade there will be a fireworks show. In the Town of Welsh, the annual Christmas parade will kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 on South Street, followed by the lighting of the town Christmas tree at City Hall. Meanwhile, the Welsh Museum at 202 East South Street will be serving hot chocolate, and that night, businesses across Welsh will light up the city with a special “Night Out” window-decorating contest.
