Doris Fontenot
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Fontenot announces her passing from this life on Nov. 29, 2012. She was 86 years old. Funeral services will be held today, Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings in honor of her life. Mrs. Fontenot will be laid to rest in St. Jules Cemetery. Deacon Mike Tramel will be officiating her funeral service.
The Fontenot family has requested that visiting hours be held today, Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m.
Doris was born in Evangeline to the late Dorsalie Daigle and the late Dora Humphreys Daigle on April 16, 1926. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to taking care of her beloved husband, Milton, and raising her wonderful children whom she adored. Doris enjoyed watching soap operas on television, growing flowers, listening to French music, and reading the newspaper. She also enjoyed canning figs and other vegetables.
Doris is survived by her beloved husband, Milton Fontenot of Jennings; her three sons, Jerry Fontenot of Morse, Terry (Diane) Fontenot of Jennings, and Perry Fontenot also of Jennings; two daughters, Florence (Wayne) Gary of Plaquemine and Jennifer (Ronnie) Desormeaux of Jennings; her six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Doris also leaves behind to cherish her memory a brother, Jester “Joe” Daigle of Jennings.
Doris now rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Dorsalie and Dora Daigle; her two brothers, Morris and Wilfred Daigle; one sister, Lou Ella Daigle; and her three sisters-in-law, Lou Daigle, Eula Daigle and Val Daigle.
