Merry Christmas, Jeff Davis

This will be the final editorial that the Jennings Daily News (JDN) publishes before Christmas. Even though it is early, we still want to take the opportunity to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas.

It has been a long, trying year in the world, nation, state and parish. We have all faced so much as individuals and a people, both good and bad.

As the holiday approaches each year, Christmas sometimes magnifies the sadness in the world. It is then that we realize just how many people struggle with so many challenges and heartache.

Christmas also magnifies the good and encourages us to give from deep within ourselves so that others may have joy. Christmas brings us together.

Perhaps that is what the spirit of Christmas is. After all, thousands of years ago, there was no joy in the world. People were oppressed by government and daily life and could only hope someone would save them.

Then a little baby was born who came to give His life so that others may have joy.

This year for Christmas, we wish that joy and peace to all of our readers. We fully believe that no matter what comes at us in life, there is always something more to remind us we can carry on.

May you and your loved ones enjoy Christmas and remember all the people, places and things that bring you joy even in the darkest times.
