Principals say they have crisis plans in place

Students in Jeff Davis Parish returned to school, some hesitantly, on Monday after a gunman claimed the lives 20 students and six adults of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Conn. last week.

James Ward Elementary School (JWES) Principal Suzanne Doucet said some JWES students that returned to school on Monday either did not know about the shooting or had questions about why something like this would happen.

Jennings High School flew its American flag at half-staff and held a moment of silence Monday in memory of the lives lost in the recent shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
