Thursday marks tough night for parish hardwood teams

The boys’ basketball teams in Jeff Davis Parish had a tough night Thursday, as the Welsh Greyhounds fell to Eunice, 58-53; the Lake Arthur Tigers dropped their contest in Oakdale; and Elton was outplayed by visiting South Beauregard by a single score, 56-55.
In girls’ action, Elton downed Iowa, 45-36 for the parish’s lone hardwood win Thursday. In Barbe Tournament action, the Jennings Lady Bulldogs were defeated by Johnson Bayou, 36-29, while Midland’s ladies also fell to Sulphur, 57-25. In the St. Louis Tournament, Lake Arthur’s ladies were outmatched by Natchitoches, 62-48.

The Bulldogs took on Barbe in a Wednesday road contest and fell short of a comeback. The Dogs will resume hardwood action Tuesday in their home opener against Lacassine.
