Alvin Drake
Funeral services for Alvin “Longhead” Drake, 83, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday , Jan. 19, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh. Father Joseph Rodney will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
Visitation will begin today, Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in Semien Lewis Mortuary Church Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Military Honors will be at 6 p.m.in the chapel by James O. Hall Honor Guard Post 19 of the American Legion.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Full military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by a U. S. Army squad from Fort Polk.
Mr. Drake entered into eternal rest on Jan. 11, 2013, in his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Welsh, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, recieved an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, was employed many years at Anchor Wate Pipeline, and was a member of Local #406.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Mrs. Mariah Drake of Welsh; one daughter, Teresa (Milton) Batiste of Lake Charles; two sons, Charles (Geraldine) Drake of Welsh, and Ray Anthony Drake of Lake Charles; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
