Area officials monitoring floodwaters in parish

Although the heavy rainfall has slowed in the parish, officials here are still closely monitoring some areas as the Mermentau River is expected to crest sometime Thursday.

Jeff Davis Sheriff Ivy Woods said water levels rose slightly on Monday, but that continued rainfall today could play a part in more flooding, especially in the Lake Arthur and Mermentau areas.
