It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Allen Trahan announces her passing from this life on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, while in a local hospital. She was 76 years of age.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. Mrs. Barbara was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery with Father David Broussard officiating her services.
Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, from 2-9 p.m. with a Cursillo Rosary at 6 p.m. on Monday evening at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. Visiting hours resumed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass.
Barbara Allen was born on Sept. 10, 1936, to the late Bennett Monic Sr. and the late Mabel Richard Monic. She was a life long resident of Evangeline and a homemaker.
Mrs. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Diana T. Hebert of Iota; one brother, Bennett “Ben” (Estelle) Monic Jr. of Evangeline; her sister, Betty Ringuet of Hathaway; two grandchildren, Dana Hebert and Troy Hebert (Christine); and her five great-grandchildren, Derek, Devin and Kaitlin Hebert, and Alyssa and Brett Crochet.
Mrs. Barbara now rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Bennett Sr. and Mabel Monic; her husband, Linton Trahan; one son, Ricky Lynn Trahan; and a son-in-law, James D. Hebert Jr.
Carrying Mrs. Barbara to her eternal resting place in Calvary Cemetery were Reginald Ringuet, Kirk Trahan, Matthew Whitney, Michael Monic, Randy Ringuet and Cade Trahan. Honorary pallbearers were Brett Crochet, Derek Hebert and Devin Hebert.
