Court date set for ex-JPD chief

A former Jennings police chief will be arraigned in the 31st Judicial District Court on March 3.
Former Jennings Police Department (JPD) chief and lieutenant Johnny Lassiter, 52, was arrested by Louisiana State Police on Jan. 11, accused of stealing items from the JPD evidence room. He was charged with theft over $1,500; malfeasance in office; obstruction of justice; and injuring public records.
