Former JPD chief arrested after theft investigation

A former Jennings Police Department (JPD) chief was arrested Friday, accused of stealing from the agency’s evidence room, and his alleged actions could cause trouble for some criminal cases.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop D Sgt. James Anderson said JPD Lt. Johnny Lassiter, 52, resigned from the department Tuesday, Jan. 8.
